100 years ago: Young Langston Hughes publishes his first poem in 1921
Excerpt from his first published poem
"“The Negro Speaks of Rivers” (1921): Written when he was 17 years old on a train to Mexico City to see his father, “The Negro Speaks of Rivers” was Hughes’ first poem which received critical acclaim after it was published in the June 1921 issue of the NAACP magazine The Crisis." -From biography.com:
Wake me up when a Marvel movie has a Black Woman as the lead.
I feel like Marvel might pull a bs move and make a MJ standalone movie and pat themselves on the back for diversity points while missing the point.
They have the chance to do this with BP2 but then you get all the whiny ass black men who don't want BP to be "feminized" despite not being able to name a single black woman from Marvel besides Storm.
Facts. On a similar note, I HOPE Marvel will give Teyonah Parris a solo film after the Marvels cause she is what we all deserve
@jehovahhthickness this. Plus saweetie is not all that good.
Agreed.
I love Saweetie tho cuz she really doesn’t bother anybody.
But yeah, the fatphobia and colorism is pretty flagrant.
Also, I definitely clock the lighter than a paper bag girlies on Twitter saying that people are just mad because Saweetie is pretty and not fat and we didn’t have this type of energy when a male artist had a featured McDonald’s meal ...
